Junior Magazine Designer (Clerkenwell, London)

What we're looking for:

Educational and Sports B2B publisher is looking for a junior designer interested in working across a range of titles and marketing material.

The ideal candidate must be a creative self-starter, with a positive attitude. We would prefer at least one or more year's experience in magazine and newsletter design from a candidate familiar with the digital process.

Candidates must have an excellent eye for detail and colour and a passion for creating strong layouts, while working well under pressure. You must be able to hit the ground running and be willing to take responsibility for individual projects as the need arises.

Skills required:
  • Mac OSX - Essential
  • Indesign - Creative Suite 3 - Essential
  • Photoshop (including photoshop for the web)
  • Illustrator
  • Basic understanding of MSOffice 2004 - including Word, Excel
  • Acrobat Reader/Distiller and familiarity with making PDFs
  • A basic understanding of the digital process from concept through print
  • A basic understanding of Dreamweaver and Flash will also be useful
Job Spec:
  • Report to the Creative Director
  • Working with 4 designers and the production co-ordinator
  • Liaising with editorial team and sales
  • Be prepared to work on all aspects of design on an individual projects from concept to publication
  • Be prepared to work across a range of projects including, magazines, newsletters, books, marketing material, websites and contract titles

  • Catalogues and Directories
  • Various 2 colour newsletters
  • Stationery
  • Media Packs
  • Marketing material
  • New projects where required

Electric Word specialise in Education and sports business publishing. In-house titles include 'SportBusiness International', 'Teaching and Learning', 'PE and Sport Today', 'iGaming Business', 'CAP Magazine', 'Special Children' and 'TV Sports Markets'. Contract titles include 'Qatar Sport' and 'Soccerex Business'.
