Julian
Turner, aged 40, joined Electric Word plc as Chief Executive from Euromoney
Institutional Investor plc where he was director of marketing. He was previously at Guardian Newspapers
Limited where he worked as commercial manager of the Product Development Unit
and publishing manager of Guardian Magazines and Wired Magazine in the UK.
Prior to his 14 years experience of subscriptions-based publishing he spent
four years in post-graduate research in medieval English political history. He
is a collector of vintage games and in 1995 published “Gambling: a Guardian
Guide” with Fourth Estate.
Sylvester
Stein
Sylvester
Stein, the founder of Electric Word, is one of the most experienced and eminent
figures in British newsletter publishing. He is currently also a non-executive
director of Fleet Street Publishing Limited.
Born
in Cape Town, having served in the wartime navy, he was in the 1950s political
editor for South Africa’s leading morning paper, the Rand Daily Mail and
subsequently editor of Drum, the renowned political magazine of black South
Africa. After moving to Britain in 1957 he worked on the News Chronicle before
setting up his own newsletter company, Stonehart, which was subsequently sold
to IBC Group PLC. Stonehart Leisure
Magazines followed and then, in 1995, Peak Performance Publishing Ltd.
Sylvester,
aged 81, is an accomplished veteran athlete and recently broke the British 60m
and 200m records for his age class. His other credits include a career as a
writer and novelist. His most recent book, “Who Killed Mr Drum?”, was published
in 2000.
Dominic Jacquesson, aged 31, joins Electric Word plc as
Chief Operating Officer. He previously
held a number of senior positions at Euromoney Institutional Investor plc,
including Chief Operating Officer at Institutional Investor Inc. Prior to this, he was a strategy consultant
with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, specialising in healthcare and financial
services.
Nigel Wray, aged 53, is non-executive Director of WILink.com plc, Chorion plc, Domino's Pizza UK and IRL plc, Seymour Pierce Group plc, Invox plc, Safestore Plc and several other companies.
Anthony Ageh
Tony Ageh, aged 42, is currently publisher of Upmystreet Limited. He was previously creative director of Virgin’s V-Net internet services and before that founded the Guardian’s new media lab and product development unit.
Peter Rigby
Peter Rigby, aged 46, has been executive chairman of Informa Group plc, a fully quoted UK business information company since it was formed by the merger of IBC Group plc and LLP Group plc in 1998. He worked for Metal Box and Book Club Associates before he joined Stonehart Publications in 1983. Stonehart was acquired by IBC in May 1986 and he became IBC’s finance director shortly thereafter. He became Deputy Chief Executive in 1988 and Chief Executive in 1990.
